The system is locked to recognize only the original Clover-provided cable, and any replacement—even if identical in design or specifications—fails to establish a proper connection. This limitation is intentional and built into Clover’s software and hardware design.
We’ve observed the same restriction in other integrations, such as between Clover POS and CAS Scales (including CL, LP, and SW series models). In those cases, Clover enforces a proprietary connection standard that blocks communication if a third-party cable is used.
For that reason, Clover customer displays cannot be extended beyond the provided cable length, and CAS Scales connected to Clover must also use their approved connection cables.
Merchants who need greater flexibility in setup may need to modify their counter layout or consider hardware solutions that do not depend on Clover’s proprietary cable enforcement.
