Exporting and Importing Customer Data Between Clover Merchant Accounts

Question:

A payment solutions company is helping a client migrate to a new Clover account and needs to move their customer and order data. The client wants to import 18 months of transaction history and 45,000 customer records into their new Clover system. Can this be done, and how does CSI Works help with this process?

Answer:

When merchants transition between Clover merchant accounts—whether due to business restructuring, new ownership, or processor changes—it’s often critical to retain customer data and order history. CSI Works offers professional data export and import services to make this process smooth and compliant with Clover’s system limitations.

Here’s how it works:

  • Data Export Service – CSI Works can export customer information and order history from your Clover account. This includes all customer records and related order details. You’ll receive an Excel spreadsheet containing both customer and order data for your reference or integration into another system.

    • Fee: One-time charge of $450 per merchant ID.

  • Data Import Service – CSI Works can import customer data only into a Clover account. Importing past order history is not allowed by Clover’s system design and restrictions. This means while customer profiles can be restored into Clover, historical transactions cannot be recreated inside Clover POS.

    • Fee: One-time charge of $450 per merchant ID.

These two services are independent of each other—you may use one or both, depending on your business needs.

This approach ensures merchants preserve valuable customer relationships and marketing data during a system migration while maintaining compliance with Clover’s policies.
