How to Change a CAS Scale from Price-Embedded to Weight-Embedded Labels
Question
At a busy meat market, a merchant realized their CAS scale was set to print price-embedded labels. This caused Clover to ring up totals as the final price instead of multiplying the per-pound price by weight. For accurate reporting and margins, they asked how to switch the CAS scale to weight-embedded labels.
Answer
To correct this, the CAS scale must be reconfigured to print weight-embedded barcodes. This ensures Clover and CSI Works apps interpret the barcode correctly and calculate totals based on weight.
Steps:
Change the label format on the CAS scale
Go into the CAS scale menu.
Locate the barcode format setting.
Change from Price Embedded to Weight Embedded.
Save and print a test label.
Verify Clover inventory setup
In the Clover Inventory app, set the item to Per Unit price (e.g., $2.99/lb).
Scan the new label at Register.
Clover should now pull the weight from the barcode and multiply it by the per-pound price.
Select the correct CSI Works parser app
Use Weight Embedded Barcode Parser when labels are weight-embedded.
Use Variable Price Barcode Parser when labels are price-embedded.
