How to Identify if Your Barcode is Weight Embedded or Price Embedded
Question
Merchants often ask: “How do I know whether my scale is producing weight-embedded or price-embedded barcodes, and which CSI Works app should I install on Clover?”
Answer
The fastest way to tell is by looking at the printed label from your scale.
Weight-Embedded Barcode – The barcode includes the total weight of the item (e.g., 1.25 lbs). Clover multiplies this weight by the unit price you set in inventory.
Price-Embedded Barcode – The barcode includes the total price of the item (e.g., $6.20). Clover uses this exact price during checkout.
How to check your label
Print a label from your scale.
Look at the numbers inside the barcode.
If you can see the final price reflected in the digits → it’s price embedded.
If you see the weight reflected in the digits → it’s weight embedded.
Based on this:
Use Variable Price Barcode Parser if your barcode is price embedded.
Use Weight Embedded Barcode Parser if your barcode is weight embedded.
