Using Mettler Toledo ICS 429 with Clover POS
Question
A merchant wanted to know if their Mettler Toledo ICS 429 could integrate with Clover POS for weight-based transactions.
Answer
The Mettler Toledo ICS 429 is not a label printing scale. It does not generate barcodes that Clover POS can scan and interpret with CSI Works apps.
This model was designed as an industrial bench scale, not for retail label printing.
It is not compatible with Clover even if paired with:
- Variable Price Barcode Parser (VPBP) – because the scale cannot print price-embedded labels.
- Weight Embedded Barcode Parser (WEBP) – because the scale cannot print weight-embedded labels.
- Direct connection to Clover POS - because Clover only supports CAS-SW-RS scale for direct connection.
Alternative Options
If a merchant needs a scale that prints barcodes for Clover, they should use a label printing scale such as:
- CAS LP1000N - 30lb capacity
- CAS CL5500B - 60lb capacity
If they need a scale that directly connects to Clover POS (no labels required), the only option is the CAS SW-RS (SW-20)
