Can we use only the EBT button instead of the Split EBT/Double Up button in Clover POS with Inventory Plus Plus?
A grocery merchant in Hawai‘i had a practical concern about simplifying their checkout process. With the Inventory Plus Plus app, two buttons appear in Clover POS when handling EBT transactions: the standard EBT button and the Split EBT/Double Up button. The merchant wondered if it would be possible to use just the standard EBT button to handle all transactions, avoiding confusion for cashiers.
The reality is that the Split EBT/Double Up button must be used for the Inventory Plus Plus app to function correctly. This is because the app manages compliance rules such as splitting eligible and ineligible items, handling the Double Up program, and ensuring that EBT is applied properly. If a cashier uses only the standard EBT button, the app cannot step in to control compliance or issue the right reports.
That said, there is a workaround: to reduce confusion at checkout, the standard EBT button can be disabled in Clover, leaving only the Split EBT/Double Up button visible. This way, cashiers won’t have two options and will always use the correct button, keeping transactions smooth and compliant.
This solution helps merchants streamline operations and avoid mistakes at checkout while still benefiting from the compliance and automation features of Inventory Plus Plus.
