Switching Clover Devices? Don’t Lose Your Barcode Scanning Setup – Here’s What to Do

Market, a small retailer that relies on barcoded labels from a scale for deli and meat items, is moving to new Clover hardware with a new Clover merchant account. They already use the Variable Price Barcode Parser to properly read barcodes with price embedded from their scale labels. Yes, there are a couple of simple steps to ensure a smooth transition when moving Variable Price Barcode Parser to new Clover devices and a new Clover account:

  1. Install the Variable Price Barcode Parser App on the new Clover device from the Clover App Market.

  2. Enable Accessibility Settings: On each new device, go to Settings > Accessibility and toggle accessibility permissions on for the Variable Price Barcode Parser. This allows the app to function with the Clover Register app.

  3. Inventory Transfer: Assuming you are transferring the inventory from the old Clover account to the new one without any changes, the app will continue functioning properly using the existing product codes.

There’s no data migration required for the app itself, as it reads barcodes based on the inventory product setup within Clover. As long as the same product codes and barcode structure are used, everything will continue to work seamlessly on the new account and devices.
